Topic “icelandic fashion”
The Iceland Airwaves festival has been an all-nighter lasting for five days - or is it six? Night after night, the Icelanders continue to impress me with their complete lack of regard for (or attention to) mainstream trends - every person is like an outsider artist, dressing in amazingly creative ways to combat the rain and cold and still look fabulous and incredibly unique. Iceland is also the only place on my trip - which has also included Paris, Copenhagen, and Stockholm - where people actually dress in colors. One girl told me, "Black is really in in Copenhagen" - but it's so boring to me. Icelanders keep things interesting:
I have been obsessed with this particular style lately that I'm still trying to put my finger on - it's part whimsy/fairytale/fantasy and part dutch schoolgirl. It's the reason why I've been feverishly stocking up on Swedish Hasbeens and stalking Icelandic designers.
