Try to Find a Crimping Iron in Times Square
As we moved forward by putting the worst day of our lives behind us, it was time to re-focus and get ready for our last day of Fashion Week mayhem. The day started out with us scrambling to get ready because we were told last minute that we had to be ready an hour before we thought. That meant no time to do hair, and minimal time to do makeup (thanks, Joe.) Instead of taking a train back to Manhattan, we were instead driven by someone who clearly thought he was in the movie "The Fast and the Furious," Vin Diesel, perhaps? After fearing for our lives more than five times, we were just glad to arrive at Bryant Park alive and in one piece!
A few days prior to our first show that day, Elisa Palomino, we had received an e-mail saying that we needed crimping irons for the look. Of course in the morning chaos, Ashley had forgotten hers, and like usual Courtney wanted to wait until last minute to purchase one. This lead to us literally running around Times Square searching through every pharmacy and beauty shop we could find. No place had them! When our time had run out, we decided it was best to hope and pray that someone we were working with had an extra. We made our way to our destination and checked in. As we were getting set up and preparing to get ripped a new one by the lead stylist for not having crimpers, we remembered that there was a pharmacy that we hadn't check right across the street. In our last efforts to be prepared and professional Courtney ran over to the store as fast as she could. Despite the blister of her foot the size of the Grand Canyon, we wound up with the last two crimping irons they had, phew. We took that as a sign that the rest of the day would run smoothly, and began working on models for the Elisa Palomino show.
The hair for this show was amazing. It was huge! Starting at the back of the head and working our way up, we crimped a section, take another section down and curl it. When the whole head was finished, we backcombed all of the hair and attached pre-backcombed extensions. By the end of it all each model looked as if she were wearing a giant nest on her head, in a romantic way of course. This look was a little bit over the top for most, but for us stylist it was a really fun change from all the sleek ponys and simple styles we did earlier in the week. Elisa Palomino's collection was described as having a 1920's feel with asian accents. The hair complimented the clothes beautifully.

Our second and final show of the day was Karen Sabag. We finished up our models and headed over to the Altman Building. Upon arriving we were checked in by none other than Kelly Cutrone's staff from her show "Kell on Earth". It was refreshing to see that they actually did work in real life, and also weird to see them in person. After getting set up downstairs we were shown the look and got started. We actually got to work as a team for once instead of being paired off with other people. It was fun and we worked well together. All of the models for the show were very nice and pleasant. Our favorite was the drop dead gorgeous, 6'1, 19 year old, Brazilian girl who already been married and divorced, and engaged again, but broke it off. Amazing and hilarious...
The look for the show was simple and elegant. To start we sectioned the hair from ear to ear and made a ponytail. We then took each side and twisted it back, joined it into the ponytail, and secured it. Then we took the ends of the ponytail and wrapped them around the base, creating a loop, and secured with pins. Here's a picture of the final look...
When all of the models were finished, we snapped some pictures of our new friends in Karen Sabag's BEAUTIFUL designs...
We then continued to sneak our way upstairs to watch the show...
We ended the day with a good dinner with good people and were officially ready to be back in Milwaukee!
